Upper Intermediate_B2: 2nd Session_Great Crimes by John Escott

 Hi dear guys,

It's time to post your 2nd comment about what you read during this week.

Please, choose a question to respond from the following ones:

1.     Which do you consider is an appropriate way to punish murderers?

2.     Do you believe in Vincenzo’s story of the “Mona Lisa” robbery?

3.     Was Bruno Hauptmann guilty for the kidnapping and murder of Charles Junior?

4.     Is there anything the robbers could have done better in order not to be caught?

What is your position regarding the methods police used before to investigate crimes?

Then, choose a partner's post and interact with him/her.

Best,

Jimena Rivadeneira, MTEFL.

  2. 1. Which do you consider is an appropriate way to punish murderers?
I personally believe that life imprisonment is an appropriate way to punish a murderer, but this punishment involves unnecessary expenses on the part of the State. So, we could consider the punishment of the electric chair, obviously the use of this method would not apply to all murderers, it depends on the crime they have committed.

  3. 1. Which do you consider is an appropriate way to punish murderers?

In my opinion, it always depends on the case, it could have been an accident or maybe that person was not in their right mind, murderers are not necessarily sick masterminds, others are though, it depends on the case. However if they are indeed the worst of the worst, they should die slowly, with pain and torture :v but not for too long, then its a pain for the ones that pay the bill.

  4. 2. Do you believe in Vincenzo’s story of the “Mona Lisa” robbery?

I don't believe in Vicenzo's story becuase it couldn't be too easy steal such a big famous picture in that way. I think that he was concealing the other people who were also behind the crime, so he decided to incriminate himself to avoid his team got captured and let them continued with the big deal.

    1. I agree with you, although I find it interesting how someone can be held responsible for the crime committed, I think that shows us that some thieves are loyal to the cause. It sounds funny but we have to admit it's true.

  5. 4. Is there anything the robbers could have done better in order not to be caught?

They could not speak a lot when they were rob the train or they coulld give a fake instruccion. So when the police were asking for clues, they would get confused
